Swiss Vacation

Today I discovered iMovie. What began as a video documenting the Muffin family christmas adventure to Switzerland, became more of a going away gift for Mr. Muffin. Sometimes I cant help but be overly sentimental when this time of year rolls around.

the 18th day...

of May, exactly 32 months ago, was the first day that muffin and I went on our very first date. A breakfast date to be more specific. Shout out to the BIG SQUEEZE in Pacific Beach, my old hood, who still makes the best damn acai bowl I've ever had.

While most first dates don't involve breakfast, we aren't most people...
once we had breakfast, then we talked all the way until lunch, once we had lunch, then we went to the gun store (that makes toootal sense) , and once we purchased a fire arm, then we had dinner! Once we had dinner....

I insisted that he leave my house because WTF it was 11 pm and what on earth was he still doing here!! So he jumped on his bike and pedaled home.

But very early on, after he opened the car door for me on our first date, we had a conversation about how early in relationships people act differently like opening car doors, and pretending to have manners. I then insisted that I wouldn't fall for such nonsense and he may as well reveal what sort of weirdo he is so I can decide if I want to deal with it. ( I may have been some sort of a man-hater at this point in my life.) He very intently assured me that he wouldn't do something now, that he didn't plan on doing for the rest of his life. For those of you that know the Muffin, when he says something, he means it!

Point of the story....

Every 18th day, of every single month, since our very first breakfast date, I receive flowers on our "anniversary."

I'm no hopeless romantic or anything, in fact I mostly am a glass half empty kind of girl, but sometimes I can't help but think, I might be the luckiest girl in the world.

p.s. Now I stand around and wait for my car door to be opened for me. It's really not my fault! He made me this way :)

FLEAS!

In my muffins line of work. He gets to do totally awesome things that I get incredibly jealous of... for example...

Horseback riding...

I am obsessed with horses. While most females ask Santa for a horse up until the approximate age of 10. I will continue to ask for a horse until I eventually receive one :) WISH ME LUCK! I have yet to come across any stables around these parts...

in regards to the fleas...

I blame myself really. It was not too long ago that I was telling a friend "Man oh man, I just don't know, but our dogs NEVERRR get fleas." That was probably the moment that the fleas infiltrated our fuzziest member of the family and began reproducing at exponential speeds. So it was decided...

Owen needed a haircut.

Needless to say, he was not happy about this.

Most pathetic, I hate getting my hair cut, weenie face ever.

Happy Sunday.

Multi-tasking

If by multi-tasker, you mean, run around the house jumping from project to project and leaving everything laying around and never ever want to clean it up... then YES, I am one of those! Sadly, I think there is supposed to be some sort of efficiency attached to one deemed a "multi-tasker." For example, my mother, chase five kids around every day until they are 18 and prevent then from killing themselves. Good job mom! You did it :)

I guess the correct adjective to describe me would be MULTI-TALENTED. It seems to be an epidemic plaguing myself and most 'artistic' folks I know. We're too freaking awesome, at too many things, and we're never able to focus our attention to one craft in order to make a living at it. So when I titled this blog Tatum Kathleen PHOTOGRAPHY, I guess I really wasn't considering all the OTHER things I do. It's more like, Tatum's Life, documented photographically?

I like being a one woman show! It sure makes payroll less complicated :)

Here is the make-up concept from todays photo shoot....

... I styled the hair as well. The inspiration featured below...

We threw on some vintage gold jewelry pieces I had laying around and they were out the door to their shoot location.

The photographer today was Mohamed! You can find him here
I'm looking forward to seeing the proofs!

Obsessions...

As a photographer I become attached to certain people. I will follow them around with my camera until they inevitably don't find it weird that I've followed them into the bathtub and am suggesting that they add more bubbles. It is these inappropriate attachments that I do my best work. So as an ode to one of my many obsessions...

Please Welcome,

The Cross Family

I'm so grateful for all my amazing clients. I couldn't do it without you guys :)

Forgive me BLOG world...

for I have sinned!

I have failed miserably at my attempts to keep up to date on my blogging, but today is a new day, so without further ado...

Tatum Kathleen Photography has been busy! Like receiving our Coronado business license! *virtual high five* and opening a business account at the bank complete with checks and credit cards made out to Tatum Kathleen Photography. It seems silly, but I have never owned my own business before so I'm giving myself a pat on the back for all the hard work, blood, sweat, and tears I've put into my little venture! I quit my job *gasp* and I am OFFICIALLY a full-time photographer. Let the joys of self-employment status be upon us. This is horribly frightening when you don't have any sort of guaranteed income. It keeps you on your toes though, or at least, off your ass! And if you're going to do something, I say jump in with both feet! You certainly aren’t going to get any new clients sitting around and hoping they come knocking on your door. So here’s to not working for ‘the man’, and getting to go to work in your pajamas!
